“Tōdaiji Ryoiku Hospital for Children” is located in the precincts of Tōdaiji Temple and was founded in 1955 to commemorate the 1200th death of anniversary of Emperor Shomu, who built the Great Buddha in 752. Since then, the hospital has provided medical care and developmental intervention, for chronically disabled children.
Thanks to recent medical advances such as respirators, many of these children are able to enjoy and enriched life at home. However, in order to meet the wider needs of these children and their families, and to spread the spirit of the Great Buddha, our hospital provides a variety of services, such as outpatient clinics, a daycare, a nursery, residential short stays for families, medical admissions and rehabilitation.
In addition, from 14:30 on Nov. 2nd, at the West corridor of the Great Buddha Hall, Mini music concert will be held by hospitalized children and adults with severe mental or physical disabilities and those who have difficulty going out due to the need for medical care. They have been practicing hard day after day for this concert. If you could kindly give them your warm cheer, it would be grateful.
