Shōsō-in

Precincts Guide Map is here.

If one walks north from in front of the Kanjin-sho passing a lake on the left, one reaches the Shōsō-in, the storehouse for the temple. The north and center chambers hold the prized possessions of Emperor Shōmu and the south chamber holds ritual implements used in the yearly ceremonies of Tōdai-ji. It is no longer part of the temple, but under the jurisdiction of the Imperial Household Agency.
